It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my
whole entire life.
When she does it my heart gets all mushy and full and bursting inside. It’s so sweet and tender.
And, she even makes her little stuffed friends join in. Last night she made her funny stuffed animal mouse, adoringly named Squeaky, fold his miniature hands during family prayer.
Sometimes she wants to hold both mine and James’ hands to say the prayer because James and I often hold hands while praying. Sometimes she like to fold her arms tightly across her chest (which usually only lasts a few seconds before one hand darts out to grab some food off of her highchair tray or to take a sip of milk).
Then she starts mumbling cute things in her prayer voice—soft, even, tender.
We say some words for her to repeat: “Heavenly
Father, Thank you for Mama. Thank you for Dada. Thank you for my milk. Thank
you for my blankie. Thank you for Kitty. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”
Her rendition goes something like this: “Henfaaa, Aank you Mama. Aank you Dada.
Aank you, ilk. Ank you Kitty. Eesus. Men!”
Today, though, I experienced a whole new level of mushy-bursting-mama
heart when she said her own prayer without any promptings other than “Heavenly
Father…” and she said it two times! “Aank you, Dada. Aank you, Mama. Aank you
Dindy (Mindy was visiting) Eesus. Men!”
I love this baby SOO much and I’m constantly surprised by how
quickly she wants to grow up!
